Godey Doll from 1940's McCall's pattern.... and Tiger Lily! She is 20 1/2 inches tall and made of cloth. Not Tiger Lily.

Here is Miss Godey undressed, with a little china head doll that I used as inspiration.

I painted the parts of my doll that are china on a china doll. When I was finished painting, I put a gloss finish on the painted areas to make them look like they were glazed.

In these picture I am hoping you can see how I did my doll's hair. I built up areas with modeling paste so it would have similar contours to the china head.

Using the modeling paste in layers, I was able to build up "curls" and shape and sand them. This was an experiment for me and I loved doing it!

I used the pattern included with the doll to make the pantaloons, but went off and did my own thing from there on in! This is a peice of an old childs dress- perfect for her petticoat! Last comment 11/24/02.

and here is a diagram. I had to adjust the pattern, and my lady must have gained a little weight while I was working on it! The "wrapper" is a little tight at the waist!

The dress is longer in the back and has cording at the shoulder seams, the waistband and the neckline. These were sewing techniques I had never tried before.
